Thanks to all who attended our second annual KLCC 4th of July ice cream social! On this breezy sun-Diego day, 100+ America-proud residents, represented by 35 KL households, joined together in the spirit of community and country. All present received a free ice cream of choice to enjoy with others in the cooled, festive clubhouse. Most donned either red, white and blue, stars & stripes or American-themed apparel. Valerie wore a crotched pancho-shawl & hat, Joe sported American flag pants; but it was Israel, son of Nelson, that won the "best representation of the 4th of July" contest for his custom-made outfit and decorated electric scooter, taking home the $50 cash prize.

While our foremost purpose was to encourage KLMHP neighborhood fellowship, this traditional gathering holds a reveled historic (& personal) significance to "we the people of the United States of America". We celebrate to commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence (written by our colonial leaders) on July 4, 1776, to secede from the governance of Great Britain. Although it is long-time since, we must not for get those that patiently endured oppression, to then rise up and forge the freedoms we have long-since enjoyed as citizens of this great nation. I hope for us, in our time, that we also "hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain un-alienable rights, including life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness...And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor." Declaration of Independence, 1776
